Winter plowing and salting on residential routes and commercial lots.
Winter-only work for people who do not mind being called out at three in the morning. You will run a plow route of driveways and commercial lots on an agreed trigger depth, plus salting where the contract calls for it. Hours are irregular by nature. When it snows you work, and when it does not you do not.
What the job involves
- Plowing assigned residential and commercial routes on a trigger depth
- Salting walkways, steps and lots where the contract includes it
- Working to the agreed snow stacking points on each property
- Reporting damage or access problems straight away rather than at the end of a shift
- Basic pre-shift checks on the truck, plow and spreader
What we need from you
- Valid driver licence and a clean enough record to be insured on our trucks
- Available at short notice overnight and at weekends through the season
- Confident reversing a plow truck in tight driveways in the dark
- Careful around curbs, beds and edges, because we repair what gets damaged
Helpful, not essential
- Previous plowing experience in the Buffalo or Rochester area
- CDL, or experience with larger equipment
Season and hours
November through March, depending on the winter. Pay depends on experience and what you can run on site, and we discuss it openly before you start.
